Uppercut is an antwerp based gallery with a focus on art furniture and design, presenting international contemporary works. Founded and directed by Scott Lippens. The gallery’s programming is rooted in a good understanding of design history and exhibits functional art of the highest caliber. The gallery is committed to support emerging and leading artists and designers who, through their craft, introduce fresh ideas to visual culture and challenge the status quo. Our gallery (est. 2023) has been built on our love for contemporary design and art. We are both a gallery, and an off space in one. We have everything under one roof and are housed in a characteristic 1930s art-deco building in Antwerp, Belgium. Our strength lies in a combination of knowledge and intuition, the head and the heart. This is how we operate through every layer of our company. We curate your collection based on intuition, which we back up by art historical and technical research. We pick the pieces based on our feeling for aesthetics, with understanding of the technicalities and material of the piece. The most important thing is that we truly care about design as much as our clients do. We therefore aim for excellence, both in the pieces we sell and in the service we offer. We like to operate and work with our designers and artists that we represent at the gallery but don’t mind making new contacts with other peers in the industry.
